Drag racing, whether it be cars, boats or motorcycles is one of the most exciting forms of auto racing. While the car never actually turns, they do reach neck-breaking speeds which give drivers and fans alike a rush they will never forget.

Drag racing has several different classes, some of which are limited to professionals, due to money, while others are open, and affordable, to nearly any budget. Most large cities have a quarter mile drag strip, which will host local drag races at least weekly. This will give amateurs a chance to race their souped up, four-cylinder vehicles against local competition. These cars are not nearly as fast as some other forms of drag racing, but the fact that the cars are affordable makes the camaraderie between drivers and fans second to none. The same local tracks will also host drag races for people who own hot rod V-8s. These races will be a little more exciting, as the cars can generally reach speeds near the 120 miles per hour mark. The driver and fan camaraderie will still be pretty enjoyable; however, the cost of these cars may slightly narrow the field of competitors.

The professional drag races which typically include boats, motorcycles, funny cars and top fuel cars are where the real excitement occurs. Imagine seeing a vehicle travelling at speeds close to 330 miles per hour. This leaves fans with the expression of “don’t blink or it will be over.” This expression says it all, when any type of vehicle reaches 330 miles per hour on a track that is not much longer than a neighborhood street. These races are loud and packed full of adrenaline, which leaves fans and drivers begging to come back for more. Drag racing is a very addicting sport and is something that everyone should experience.
